Sign up for the waitlist here. Members pay a $35 annual fee for their garden box, and are required to do 6 hours of volunteer work per year for the Community Garden, in addition to maintaining your box area. Its important that you are a community oriented person. Volunteering includes garden maintenance, garden box repairs, etc. There is also accessible volunteering options such communications and administration. You can learn more about volunteer work here.
It is hard to predict when garden boxes will become available. Typically there are 5-10 people on the waitlist. It may be possible to move up the waitlist a bit sooner by participating in the garden work parties while you are still on the waiting list.
No! Just be open to learning. There are lots of knowledgeable gardeners that are happy to give advice. The garden work parties and volunteering at the Indigenous 215+ Memorial Garden are also great ways to improve your gardening skills and know-how.
As you need to be able to water frequently during the summer and regularly maintain your plot and the overall garden, you should live nearby.

Beaconsfield Garden collects a $35 annual fee for each plot from members. Beaconsfield Garden has also been a grant recipient of Small Neighbourhood Grants and occasional City of Vancouver grants. This money goes towards purchasing garden tools, building supplies for garden upkeep, and soil.
